CareMedi Develops World's First Patch-Type Insulin Pump Usable for Seven Days [Asia Business Daily]
2026.06.01
Longer Usage Period Than the Average 3-4 Days
CareMedi, a medical device development company, has developed the world's first patch-type insulin pump that can be used for seven days, accelerating its entry into the global market.

CareMedi announced on the 26th that it has launched its patch-type insulin pump, 'CareLevo.' CareMedi was founded by Woonsup Shin, a former professor of the Department of Chemistry and the Department of Integrated Biomedical Engineering at Sogang University. The company has attracted a Series B investment of 26 billion won from global biosensor company i-SENS and Atinum Investment, among others.
CareLevo's usage cycle is seven days, which is longer than other products that typically last three to four days. In addition, its high-capacity design of 300 units (3 mL) enables its use not only by patients with type 1 diabetes but also by those with type 2 diabetes who require larger amounts of insulin. The device is lightweight at 17g and thin at 11mm, reducing the burden of wearing it, and it features a waterproof design with an IP48 rating, allowing users to wear it during daily activities such as showering or light exercise.
CareLevo incorporates CareMedi's proprietary Plate Electroosmotic Pump (PEOP) technology. This technology moves liquid through electrochemical reactions, allowing precise control of the drug in micro-liter (μL) units. Unlike traditional mechanical pumps, it does not use motors or gears, which significantly reduces noise and power consumption.
Insulin can be administered using the dedicated CareLevo app, and it can be linked with a Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) to monitor blood glucose changes in real time. CareLevo is available for purchase starting today on the 'CareLevo Mall.'
CareMedi plans to enhance its artificial pancreas system and AI-based personalized blood glucose management services using the accumulated data.
Woonsup Shin, CEO of CareMedi, said, "Based on CareLevo, we plan to expand into the global market and strengthen our technological competitiveness."
